Get to Know Me
Welcome! My name is Heather Axtens. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate supervised by Melanie Henderson, LPC-S. I am employed by Lauren Norris, LPC. In 2004, I graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor's degree in psychology, minoring in nutrition. From there I earned my master's degree in counseling psychology with a specialization in marriage and family from the University of Texas in Tyler in 2008.

I am married to my high-school sweetheart. We have 3 wonderful school-aged children. I am involved at our church where I enjoy singing on our worship team. I stay busy volunteering at my church, my children's schools and their sports teams. I love animals, music, working out, and enjoy reading, bible journaling, and photography.

Individual Therapy
Services are offered to children, adolescents, and adults with issues including, but not limited to depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, A.D.H.D. or other behavioral issues.  I incorporate a collective, holistic approach using cognitive behavioral and solution-focused therapy. If the client chooses, we incorporate faith-based counseling, as well.  Are you ready to become a happier, healthier version of yourself?
Family Therapy
Families are the fundamental and arguably most valuable groups in society. Healthy family dynamics are an important aspect of both individual and group functioning. Dysfunction in just one person indicates a problem with the family as a whole. My family therapy sessions will aid in improved collaboration, communication, and help your family function its best.
